A course designed to teach fundamentals in drawing, color theory, watercolor and acrylic painting as well as composition, perspective, illustration and more. The class prepares students for more focused course studies by providing them with the fundamental skills necessary to succeed. This is a recommended starting out point for a middle school student.
Comprehensive drawing skills are taught in conjunction with written text. Students have the opportunity to design long term projects while also be taught the skills needed to express themselves visually. This class also explores cartooning and illustration forms from other cultures including Manga cartooning from Japan.
Students explore the sculptural quality of clay, learning the various techniques, pinch pot, slab and coil construction and introduction to the wheel. Students design a final piece and utilize any one of the techniques to complete. Work will be fired and glazed to finish. Class allows for more advanced students to work on individual projects with the instructor.
The watercolor curriculum is broken down into concrete skills development. Basics from material use, control of the paint and brush work are all taught. Wet into wet, dry brush, specially prepared surface and special effects are all brought into play as the students learn to let the medium do the work to create the desired effects.
An intensive drawing and painting class for any student who wishes to put together an art portfolio for a future in art school. A must for juniors in high school. Develop the skills needed for admissions, and build a competitive portfolio.

This course is student centered in that each student designs their own course of study, supported by the curriculum developed for the discipline they choose. Creative problem solving and skill are both emphasized. And as the name suggests independence in lesson selection and subject matter.
This class will be like a buffet; we will touch on many things to give you a taste of what the program can do. Class will begin with an introduction to the tools pallet and drop down menus. We will explore through various exercises, techniques such as layers, retouching, photo montage, and special effects.
A comprehensive look at classic and experimental oil painting techniques with an emphasis on understanding the materials used. The curriculum begins with classic impasto, then moves on to wipe out or reduction, classic full color building and blending, black canvas and more. Instruction in composition, drawing and color theory are also included.
This program is beneficial to students of all skill levels. It not only develops the student’s skills with the medium but also heavily emphasizes the application of color theory to each project. Experimental and classic use of chalk pastels are what this class is based upon.

This class will incorporate design, construction, technology and faux painting and texture techniques. Students will collect the raw materials for the construction of their clocks which will simply be recycled objects.All designed for the functional clocks will be Steampunk, a mix between modern technology and Victorian era style.
The course begins by teaching the fundamentals of line, form and shape then introduces more complex concepts of composition texture and more. As skills develop students create finished art work as a means of introducing the more creative aspects of drawing. Students are introduced to the work of contemporary and historically relevant arts in developing their own vision.
A 2.5hr class. Learn to take the old or unused and transform it into something that you will never want to take off. Experiment with fabrics, lace, buttons, appliques and so much more.
