With summer in full swing, it is time you do something nice and fun just for yourself. Classes are always a cost effective and wonderful way to broaden your horizons, explore other aspects of yourself, and learn something new. Letting out your inner artist is a wonderful way to learn how to express yourself with form and color, and the good news is that you need never have been able to draw a straight line to take an art class.
You may not call yourself an artist, but if you have never tried, you will never know. The summertime is the perfect time to take on a new challenge, learn something new, and perhaps even find that you have some talent. In a beginner’s glass you will find others at your same level so you won’t be alone, and the instructors will walk you through the basics at a speed that will suit your comprehension. Working in clay, pastels, watercolors, oils or acrylics, can open you up to new possibilities as well as give you new ways to express yourself as you find your own unique style.
If you already draw or paint, or are a potter, a class can help you improve your techniques, and learn new ways to accomplish what you desire. You may even experiment with a new approach to your work, or a new style, and learn something you thought you already knew. Your experienced instructor is probably a working artist herself, and may give you new insights into your own work, certainly a fresh and different perspective. You can always take your art to the next level, with another person’s input.
Best of all, you will meet others who are learning just like you. Though an art class may not be a social gathering, you might be able to make connections and network a bit in ways that can enrich your life. Making new friends is always a possibility in a classroom setting, as you may find others who share your interests.
